In celebration of the 2nd annual NoMad Jazz Festival, the Flatiron NoMad Partnership is hosting a free, special-themed walking tour, Vaudeville Broadway Before Times Square, on Sunday, August 2, at 11 AM.
Led by tour guide Fred Cookinham, this 90-minute journey explores the theaters of the Vaudeville era (1870 – 1920), on Broadway, starting at 23rd Street. Along the way, you’ll discover the history of Tin Pan Alley, the original Madison Square Garden, and the locations where “Casey At The Bat” and “The Pirates of Penzance” premiered, along with many other unique stories from New York City’s musical past.
